The Caldarium Bath - N - (-------------------------------------------------) - <---(M)---> - - S - As you enter you are overwhelmed by the lavish decorations of the baths. The precise yet fluent and graceful lines of the bath reaffirms your faith in god. The easy gliding pose and the mood of spiritual serenity bespeak highly of Diocletian and his construction methods. Above the circular bath is a high dome, allowing the warmth of the sun to help heat the pools during the summer nights. Otherwise, at night and winter, furnances keep the pool water temperature just above 100 degrees. A small walkway leads to another warm pool to your north, and the bath exit is to your south. Tall decorated walls to your east and west help insolate the warmth of the room.
