From what you can see, the palace was planned with great precision, its
design resembling that of a military encampment.  Unlike the sprawling and
irregular unplanned cities of the past, the Diocletian Palace takes the form
of a square divided into equal halves, accessed by two main arteries.  You
see one of the two main avenues to your north, providing a path to the
northeast portion of the palace.  One of the six larger watchtowers stands
firmly to your southeast, and the atrium pathway is to your west.
