The building has been extensively modified shortly after its completion
to accommodate the large clerestory windows that line the western walls. 
Through these windows you can see the large flowing buttresses that support
the upper levels of the structure.  A thick wooden banister protects you
from the sheer drop to the nave arcade to your east.  A small staircase
descends to the second floor, and a narrow walkway continues north and
south.
