The clerestory windows have been lowered to the top of the gallery to
suppress the rosettes of the triforium gallery below.  This creates a roof
with a slope increasing in height as it travels east.  The light emanating
from these windows is slightly muffled by their colored glass, which dims
the room and sheds a color-shot light of great beauty.  The small walkway
continues north and south.
