From your vantage point it is clear to see that the whole ship is at a
slight angle, tilted to starboard by a few degrees.  You presuppose that it
must have been turning away from the shore before impact, perhaps a
desperate attempt by the helmsman to avoid the oncoming shore.  There are
bottles of rum on every step leading up to the weather deck, the liquid
inside sloshing with every rock of the ship.  Between the two sets of stairs
is the entrance to the Captain's Quarters.
