A chasm runs the length of this cabin; the room has almost been separated
into two.  The prow of the ship seems to dip slightly, giving the forward
part of the cabin the appearance of sloping downwards.  The bow is holding
on by a thread; the remaining parts of the upper hull look to be keeping the
front of the ship attached to the rear.  
Hoffman, the first mate, paces around furiously.
A snail very slowly creeps along here.
