The hardpacked ground here is rutted and worn from the repetition of
footfalls and the rolling press of wagon wheels.  A yellowing strip of grass
lines the center, adding a splash of color to an otherwise dreary brown. 
There are seldom more than one or two people about.  Most of the noise in
the area seems to consist of dogs barking and random shouted conversations. 
The meeting hall stretches from wall to wall, south of here.
