Heat radiates off the walls in waves.  The sound of metal against metal
is louder and fills your ears as you descend down the ladder.  Shouting is
muffled by the sound of a roaring fire so that only bits and pieces are
audible.  Farther down you can see light reflecting off a stone floor.  The
smell of sulphur burns your nose and fills your lungs forcing you to take
shallow breaths.
