Each of these huts stand on pilings six to eight feet above the icy sand
below.  The woven grasses that form the walls and ceilings of the stilted
dwellings provide a surprisingly strong defense against the elements.  The
floor is made of highly polished driftwood and debris ripped from the hulls
of long forgotten ships.  In spite of a very distinctive architecture that
all of the buildings share, each is crafted and decorated with materials
that make them all unique.
