The candle that was flickering in this room suddenly goes out as soon as
the door is opened.  Looking closer at the candle, it becomes obvious that
the wax has barely been burned and the wick is not even smoking.  Certainly
this candle has not been burning for as long as the ship has been here.  A
painting of a bearded figure tied to a stake seems to stare directly at
anyone standing in the room.
