You are scaling a mountain, one that is very, very hard to climb.  In
just a few feet, you've had to leap over several cracks, clamber past jagged
rocks, pull yourself up a sheer rock face, and carefully pick your way
through a mudslide.  This face of the mountain seems totally barren except
for one conspicuous, short, but thick tree with a web of exposed roots.  
A large boulder crashes down from above and shatters directly behind you!
