Thermal energies radiating from the walls cause the water in this room to
be scalding to the touch and flakes of heavy minerals form a lively flow in
the convection.  A passage off the southern wall allows cooler water from
above to travel out as the warmer waters displace it.  Above ground the
volcano seems to be a static and frozen but deep in its belly it is
obviously as alive as the day it ascended.
