Slaves are shackled to their benches all along the room.  Their faces
contort in anguish, mouths agape in mournful howls and crying.  Although
their bodies are racked with crying spasms, they make no noise whatsoever. 
All of them emaciated and wearing rags, all of them covered in welts and
bruises.  What a striking contrast to the free and beautiful people walking
the streets of Ina far above.
