This is all that remains of the verdant forest that once overgrew what is
now the Towne of Rune.  Cleared by the original settlers and used to build
the first homes, the woods were treated with respect.  During their first
hard winter, the shady trees provided shelter from the wild boars and
magical beasts that preyed upon the humans.  As the population grew and the
townsfolk grew more ambitious, the Astarach tree line receded.  In recent
history, successive Lords have repeatedly declared their dedication to
keeping the forest free of logging, as a nature preserve.  
A squirrel rushes back and forth, collecting food for its nest.
