This appears to be an entrance to the thick, dense forest.  The thick,
tough skin of an ogre has no problem passing through the brush and thorned
bushes.  Years of experience has given them means to work through it
unscarred.  It is completely impassable by others, but northern paths lead
to lighter density of trees.
