Layer upon layer of ground has been peeled away in search of rare veins
of metals and gems.  The devastation to the land is amazing.  What was once
untouched wilderness is now a wasteland of mining refuse and torn land
masses.  The giants have been so efficient that the edges of the mine are
now considerably taller than any one of them, making passage out of the
mining pit impossible for the smaller slaves.  The mine continues into the
distance as one looks northeast.  The main road is to the southwest.
