The gradually dimming hallway ends at this point.  The wood plank
floorboards are coated with a thin layer of dust, interspersed with
footprints.  A solitary magical orb hangs from the ceiling here, casting
faint light down the musty stairs at your feet.  While the landing below is
lit, nothing past it can be seen.  To the south, the light grows brighter as
you look towards the main hall of the fort.
