With trepidation you climb the rickety stairs spiraling up to the top of
this tower.  Your movement disturbs bats who apparently live in this
darkened core of the building.  Completely windowless, the blackness is
absolute except for the glow from your torch making you an easy target.  
     A railing along the staircase aids your ascent.
