Before you stands Senator Laveau's estate.  The mansion seems to me made
entirely out of large dark colored bricks.  Large ivy vines have grown over
most all of the exterior of the estate.  The roof appears to be made from
overlapping tiles which seem to drain water off quite well.  Perhaps your
eyes are playing tricks on you but are those large trees growing within the
walls of the estate?
