Description of Disreputable Affairs:
Lord Agrippa beckons you in close and whispers in a low voice. I seem to
have problem on my hands which could potentially become embarassing so it
can never be known even to my closest court advisors. What I am about to
tell you is said with the strictest confidence and I beg that you never tell
anyone of this conversation. For many years since the Lady Saresyn was
killed I have not considered getting involved in a relationship with another
woman. I still remember Lady Saresyn fondly, but her death was a long time
ago and I am afraid that I fell to the charms of a woman under circumstances
which do not suit royalty. She is but a servant at a bathhouse in Templeton
and I met her on my last visit to that town. The bathhouse is out of the
way and I visited it hoping to relax on my own for a while, away from the
castle. Although I am certain nobody recognized me, and I met the woman
only once I have been unable to forget her completely, but I cannot afford
to have any public association with her. Word reached me only recently that
the woman I met in the bathhouse may be in great danger now. I am told that
she took a fleeing criminal into the bathhouse and allowed him to escape
into the sewers through a hatch in the bathhouse drainage system. Because
she provided this miscreant with refuge she unknowingly involved herself in
a web of crime that now threatens her life. She has become a target by
those that pursued the rogue she helped to escape. As I'm sure you can
understand, I cannot aid her directly so I must ask you to go to Templeton
and discreetly identify and get rid of anyone who may pose a threat to her.
Remember that failure on your part to stay silent about these matters will
be dealt with swiftly. I am trusting you to keep silent and protect this
woman's life.
