The road widens to a broad, cleared area.  Here a noisy mob gathers,
competing for bragging rights with contests of skill and strength.  The
crowd is crude and unmannered, but surprisingly fair, accepting all comers
who wish to try their hands.  Crowds are gathered around the contests to the
northwest, north and northeast.
