The darkness seems less powerful here, the further away from the shed you
travel.  The worn path has widened somewhat and there numerous breaks in the
hedges that surround you on both sides.  Ahead to the north, the light
shines brighter compared to the foggy darkness to the south.  Howls fill the
air around you, and strange scratching sounds assault your ears from all
sides.  
A thorny, red-veined vine twines its way around your feet.
You pant and gasp, trying to catch your breath.
