You are walking along a walkway made of interlocking sandstone tiles,
worn and patched in several places.  The stones crumble slightly under your
feet as you pass over them, making a faint crunching sound.  The large
granite blocks making up the northern wall of the retreat rise directly
before you, while the walkway continues to the east.  To the west is the
front portico, but an iron fence blocks your passage south.
