The smell of death is as overpowering as the oppressiveness of the
jungle.  Following the sunless tunnel of trees brings travelers face to face
with a solid wall of thick gray vapor.  The barrier of fog exudes a bitter
chill as it moves endlessly westward.  What lies beyond this forbidding mass
of frigid mist squeals with suffering.  The sounds of agonal cries and
primitive drums collide with machinery and muffled voices though nothing can
be seen beyond its malevolent shroud.  Daring to step through the veil may
lose one's soul forever.
