A cross hatched wooden grate lies here leading the way down into the
cargo bays of the great ship.  Dry foods and supplies were probably kept
down there.  The hatch is cordoned off by velvet ropes that have long since
been knocked over.  The hatch itself has been covered over in ice and is
difficult but not impossible to open.  Looking straight up one can see the
massive sails that once billowed with vitality.
