The top of the cargo shaft opens to the middle decks with only a thin
rope to serve as a railing to passersby.  One step past the ropes would have
a person flailing their arms in a vain attempt to evolve wings and avert
certain death.  The hallway runs east and west and is quite large providing
ample room for multiple people to dash through without fear of bumping
heads.  To the north lies a stair well to the outside and a door that is
locked with a large padlock.
