The smell of delicious food is exceptionally strong in the stairwell,
what with the doors north propped open so the tantalizing aroma of fresh
food may waft out.  Several crates of fruit and various cookery implements
are stacked up on either side of the doorway and a peek through reveals the
bustling of a kitchen in full swing.  Leading upwards is an unsteady,
creaking staircase twisted and warped by moisture and heavy use, appearing
not the least bit stable.  Further to the south are the main doors of the
tavern.
