Mining refuse has been piled here from months, maybe years, of mining in
this pit.  All sorts of waste rock and other garbage have been left here to
slowly erode back into the ground.  It is slightly possible that some
valuable gems or trace amounts of metals remain to be gleaned from this
pile, but the miners clearly feel it is no longer worth their time.  The
mining pit continues to the east, south, and southeast.
