The light diminishes to nothingness just past the bottom of the stairs. 
A small sign hangs on the northern wall, giving some basic directions.  Dim
light can be seen above, back up the stairs, but it is probably best to get
a light before wandering around down here in the dark.  The dark room
stretches off to the south and the east, seperated by large foundation
columns.
