There is nothing special about the pike, except for the piece of red
cloth tied around the end of the handle.  Used mostly by the infantry, it
seems that this spear-like weapon has been modified to be used by merchants
who have to travel through harsh lands.  The shaft of wood from which it is
crafted from is much shorter and lighter.  Also you noticed the edge is much
sharper than normal pikes and seems to have been dipped in poison.
