I had the good fortune last night to attend a performance put on by our
citys premiere opera company. Following the event, I was introduced to a
patroness of the arts, a woman of exquisite refinement and grace. I spoke
with the lady at length and discovered that she has always desired to
practice the craft she provides for. She has, in fact, a voice of rare
clarity and lightness, and ever since we parted I have been contemplating
ways in which I might do something for this delightful woman. This morning
I recalled that in one months time my palace is host to a gathering of the
lords and ladies of Sepharia among whom will be the Lord Agrippa and the
Lady Undya. It seems to me that were the lady of whom I have told you to be
the centrepiece of a great and glorious entertainment it would bring both
she, and all my guests as well, no end of pleasure. I would have you seek
out a person or persons who might mentor her as far as acting is concerned.
I would also have you seek out costumers fit to design a gown of surpassing
beauty and lastly I should like you to find an appropriately exquisite gift
or gifts for the lady to adorn herself with for her debut. Go quickly so
that the lady may begin her training as soon as possible.
