Walking along the sandy shore of Lake Whompfish it is difficult to notice
the pot-holes that lie beneath.  Though rather deep, these depressions have
been completely filled in with decades of sand and sediment.  Large, deeply
sunken footprints mare the wind combed beach, making a terrible mess of what
has taken nature years to create.  A refreshing breeze filters in from the
southeast carrying the smell of pine and the laughter of tiny birds.  From
the south, a low rumbling can be heard as though someone were cutting logs
very slowly.
