Beneath the East Arch of Diocletian - N - (-------------------------------------------------) - <---(M)---> # SW - - Unlike the other reliefs, the ones presented on the sides of this arch are not of the four rulers, but instead appear to show a subterranean network of galleries and chambers. Upon a closer look you notice that they were designed as cemetaries for the burial of the fallen warriors. The four tetarchs must still be using these catacombs, although you are unable to understand why during this time of peace would they presented, honored in a way, on this arch. Perhaps you should ask the palace residents more about it. To your north you see the central section of the palace, which appears to include gardens, lecture halls, and other rooms, all enclosed within a great concrete perimeter wall. A noble official visiting the palace wanders around. A Diocletian commoner goes about his daily chores here. A sparrow flutters around the crowd, trying not to be trampled.
