A cross-vaulted sanctuary preceding the apse to your north provides a
sense of comfort and inner-peace.  The design of this room is intended to
force visitors to reorient themselves before they enter the holy altar
located in the apse, it is intended to expand the experience of transition
from the material world outside into the spiritual world inside the church. 
To your south is the center of the church.
