Down, down, down.  Deeper and deeper.  Small drifts of silt pile against
rocks, creating occasional miniature avalanches when the earth grows
restless.  The heat is intense down here and up ahead a shimmering wall of
superheated water undulates where it mixes with the cooler water of the
tunnel.  Thankfully, the clicking of the lobsters, so prevalent throughout
the rest of the mines, cannot be heard here.  No doubt, the cave lobsters
are normal in the sense that they do not like hot water.  Moans of pain
reverberate through the water and the mine shafts further down.
