The Federal Courtroom is surprisingly smaller than the District Courtroom
next door.  The bench is elevated considerably and most impressive in dark
wood, a large gavel resting on the desk surface.  Jury seating is two lines
of straight-backed, unpadded wooden chairs, designed to prevent jurors
falling asleep during tedious testimony.
